What Is Mediation?

Mediation is a non-adversarial process for resolving disputes. At The Domestic Mediation Center, a skilled neutral third party referred to as a mediator guides this process. The mediator assists participants to focus on the real issues of the dispute, clarify misunderstandings, explore solutions, and negotiate an agreement in the best interest of the matter. All domestic and family law issues, such as custody, visitation, and child support, can be successfully mediated if the parties approach mediation with the right attitude, which is something our Dallas domestic mediation attorneys can help both parties achieve.

How Does Mediation Work?

The mediation process itself is structured so that persons unfamiliar with the process will quickly become comfortable. At the mediation session, each person has the opportunity to share their side of the story and their thoughts about the situation. The parties then begin to work through the issues they want to be resolved.

The mediator may meet with everyone together and will also meet individually with each side. This offers participants the opportunity to communicate to the mediators their real interests in the dispute as well as to vent anger or frustrations outside the presence of the other party. The mediator will work with each person, within the mediation parameters, until an agreement is reached that is acceptable to everyone.

Upon reaching an agreement, the agreement is put in writing and signed by the parties involved, along with their attorneys. If time permits, a final order will be drafted at the time of the mediation to facilitate an efficient resolution of the matter.

Why Should I Choose the Domestic Mediation Center?

The Domestic Mediation Center is conveniently located in Plano. The building is easily accessible with parking readily available outside the front door of the building. When you arrive at the Center, you will be greeted by a warm and pleasant face, offered coffee or refreshment, and immediately shown to your respective mediation room.

The mediation space at the Center is ample with two conference rooms, each providing access to television, digital presentation tools, refreshment, and confidentiality due to their divided positioning within the building. Wireless internet will be provided to each participant, and the use of Google and Apple presentation tools will be available should a presentation be desired by a participant.

Mediation can be an all-day affair. We at the Center facilitate the occasion by providing refreshments throughout the day, and lunch at 12:00 for those participating in full-day mediation.

I felt like I mattered. I felt like what I had to say was important. Glenn was thoughtful, encouraging and understanding. She helped me navigate the process and validated my thoughts about things I was not sure. Thank you Glenn!!! It was great working with you!

Jon Dean Green

★★★★★

I turned to Ball Morse Lowe PLCC when I needed my mother's estate probated in Oklahoma. It involved mineral rights and I live in California and my mother had not lived in OK for over 60 years. I wanted a firm that would do this correctly and be reasonable in cost. Brian Hill was a pleasure to work with. He and his staff were professional, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They made the experience of probate painless, explained things as we went along, and were clear in their expectation of what they would need from me to move the process forward. I am so glad I found them and appreciate deeply all they accomplished on my behalf.
